Joe’s Green Balloon from The Roasting Party
At our coffee shop, serving specialty coffee isn't just a choice; it's a passion and a commitment to excellence that runs deep in our Forge Coffee ethos.
We believe in celebrating the unique characteristics and flavours that specialty coffee has to offer, which is why we chose The Roasting Party to work with.
They work directly with traders around the world who’ve built relationships directly with coffee farmers. This support system means farmers can produce consistently good coffee while securing the financial future of their local communities. It also ensures that their signature blends remain consistent. Working with a company that prioritises sustainability and ethical practices in their coffee sourcing was super important to us.
Our house blend is Joe’s Green Balloon, a three bean blend from Brazil, Colombia and Guatemala. We find this is a versatile all rounder which suits all our espresso based drinks. Taste notes are roasted walnut, nougat and chocolate flavours. A sort of warm blanket the morning after the night before, as the Roasting Party say!
These flavours mean our espresso shots are bold and can cut through the milk in your drink with a thicker sweetness than a filter coffee (see below). All round delicious!
OUR DECAF
Our decaffeinated offering is the Roasting Party’s Condor Sugar Cane Decaf from Colombia. This Colombian washed coffee has a perfect mix between chocolatey and fruity flavours - just the right fit for our espresso based drinks. Our decaf is just as delicious as our full caf - so no fear that you’ll be missing out!
OUR FILTER COFFEE
We also serve filter coffee at Culworth, offering a different blend or single origin each day, again from The Roasting Party. Filter coffee produces a more delicate, softer flavour making it easy to drink with or without milk, although its most commonly drunk black to allow you to tase the subtle characteristics of the bean, that you may not be able to taste in an espresso based drink.

We’ve got you! We sell our house blend Joe’s Green Balloon beans in our shops, and can grind them for you on request.
We also sell other Roasting Party blends and single origins if you’d like to expand your coffee repertoire at home! We also sell reusable cups (see picture) made of durable glass, with a smooth cork grip and silicone lid.
